UDA MPs back Ndindi Nyoro for Ruto’s deputy in 2027
A cluster of Murang’a officials has conveyed their support for Ndindi Nyoro, the Member of Parliament for Kiharu, to assume the role of deputy to President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 general election.
Led by Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, these officials argue that Ruto’s chances of winning another term may encounter obstacles if Rigathi Gachagua continues to serve as his deputy.
Senator Nyutu emphasized the significance of acknowledging Murang’a in the realm of national politics, promoting Ndindi Nyoro as a more favorable option compared to Gachagua, who is perceived to harbor unfavorable views towards the Murang’a residents.
Nyutu asserted that Gachagua’s divisive conduct raised worries, expressing that opting for such a path could have adverse effects on Ruto’s prospects in the area.
“We will request Ruto to choose a young person from Murang’a who is Ndindi Nyoro; Gachagua has lost his ground, treating people disrespectfully, including elected leaders,” Nyutu stated.
Emphasizing the importance of equity and responsibility, Nyutu stressed that the 2027 election nomination process must be unbiased, with no preferential treatment granted to any person.
Gatanga Member of Parliament Edward Muriu underscored the significance of acknowledging the valuable contributions made by the mothers of Murang’a. He urged for the consideration of a younger candidate, such as Ndindi Nyoro.
He emphasized the historical and cultural importance of Murang’a as the original homeland of the Kikuyu community, urging proper respect and acknowledgment for the individuals from that area.

“The women of Murang’a also give birth to leaders, and Ndindi Nyoro is qualified enough to deputize Ruto and become a leader,” Muriu affirmed.
Muriu observed that numerous leaders are endorsing Ndindi as a prospective candidate for the position.
During a memorial service, Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, reiterated this view, encouraging leaders from the Mount Kenya region to guide emerging leaders such as Ndindi Nyoro instead of engaging in political opposition against them.
