Kenya Owes Chebukati a Hero’s Farewell for ‘Saving’ Democracy – MP Declares

Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe has praised former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati for his role in Kenya’s 2022 presidential election. He believes Chebukati deserves a special sendoff for his service to the nation.

Chebukati’s Role in Preventing Election Chaos

According to Kagombe, Kenya was on the edge of political turmoil due to disputes over the election results. He commended Chebukati for standing firm despite alleged pressure from the government. Kagombe argued that if Chebukati had given in to political influence, Kenya could have faced chaos similar to the 2007 post-election violence.

    A Hero Who Stood Firm

Kagombe described Chebukati as a strong and decisive leader who ensured the election process remained fair. He credited Chebukati with saving the country from division and unrest.

“We will remember Chebukati as a fearless electoral chief who did not bow to intimidation. In 2022, he made sure the right election outcome was delivered. Kenya was on the brink of another crisis, but his firmness saved the country. If not for him, we might have seen a repeat of the 2007 violence. He is a hero deserving of honor, and I believe Kenya should give him a respectable sendoff,” Kagombe stated.

    Calls for Recognition

Kagombe urged the government and Kenyans to acknowledge Chebukati’s contribution to maintaining peace and democracy. He emphasized that leaders like Chebukati should be celebrated for their dedication to the country’s stability.

As discussions continue, many will be watching to see if Chebukati receives the recognition Kagombe has called for.
