UDA MPs back Ndindi Nyoro for Ruto’s deputy in 2027

A cluster of Murangโ€™a officials has conveyed their support for Ndindi Nyoro, the Member of Parliament for Kiharu, to assume the role of deputy to President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 general election.

Led by Murangโ€™a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, these officials argue that Ruto’s chances of winning another term may encounter obstacles if Rigathi Gachagua continues to serve as his deputy.

Senator Nyutu emphasized the significance of acknowledging Murangโ€™a in the realm of national politics, promoting Ndindi Nyoro as a more favorable option compared to Gachagua, who is perceived to harbor unfavorable views towards the Murang’a residents.

Nyutu asserted that Gachagua’s divisive conduct raised worries, expressing that opting for such a path could have adverse effects on Ruto’s prospects in the area.

“We will request Ruto to choose a young person from Murangโ€™a who is Ndindi Nyoro; Gachagua has lost his ground, treating people disrespectfully, including elected leaders,” Nyutu stated.

Emphasizing the importance of equity and responsibility, Nyutu stressed that the 2027 election nomination process must be unbiased, with no preferential treatment granted to any person.

Gatanga Member of Parliament Edward Muriu underscored the significance of acknowledging the valuable contributions made by the mothers of Murangโ€™a. He urged for the consideration of a younger candidate, such as Ndindi Nyoro.

He emphasized the historical and cultural importance of Murangโ€™a as the original homeland of the Kikuyu community, urging proper respect and acknowledgment for the individuals from that area.

“The women of Murangโ€™a also give birth to leaders, and Ndindi Nyoro is qualified enough to deputize Ruto and become a leader,” Muriu affirmed.

Muriu observed that numerous leaders are endorsing Ndindi as a prospective candidate for the position.

During a memorial service, Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, reiterated this view, encouraging leaders from the Mount Kenya region to guide emerging leaders such as Ndindi Nyoro instead of engaging in political opposition against them.

“We should support the young leaders in Mount Kenya, and thus Ndindi Nyoro should not be fought,” Kuria remarked.

Ndindi Nyoro, a strong supporter of President William Ruto, has been frequently suggested as a potential contender for the Mount Kenya presidential candidacy in the 2032 elections.

During a memorial service for the mother of gospel artist Ngaruiya Junior, Moses Kuria, the Public Service Cabinet Secretary, emphasized the importance for leaders from the Mount Kenya region to guide and mentor younger leaders rather than resorting to punitive measures.

Kuria said that Ndindi Nyoro should be supported instead of being fought politically.

โ€œWe should support the young leaders in Mount Kenya and thus Ndindi Nyoro should not be fought,โ€ Kuria said.

Ndindi Nyoro is a close friend of President William Ruto and has numerously been touted as a potential candidate for 2032 presidential bid from Mount Kenya
