KUCCPS Sets the Stage for Academic Evolution: Second Revision of University Courses Unveiled

After the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced the launch of the portal on Friday, June 16, students who missed out on their preferred university courses can now revise their choices.

KUCCPS announced in a statement dated June 15 that it will reopen its portal for a second revision to students who took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam in 2022.

In addition to degree programs, the placement service announced that candidates enrolling in certificate and diploma programs were also eligible for a second review.

“The 2022 KCSE candidates who have not secured a course are encouraged to log in and reapply,” KUCCPS said in a statement.

The KUCCPS requires students to make a second-course selection revision.

The second revision allows a student to choose a different course if KUCCPS fails to place them based on their initial course selections, with KUCCPS requiring students to apply by Tuesday, June 27.

Typically, this occurs when students with low cluster points apply to prestigious courses.

Students who qualified for university admission but had not yet applied for undergraduate courses were also eligible for KUCCPS.

This is also an opportunity for those applying for the first time, the placement stated.

In contrast to previous years, when all KCSE students were eligible to apply, the government announced through the Ministry of Education that only 2022 KCSE students would be eligible to apply.

Students with a grade of C+ are eligible to apply for bachelor’s degrees, those with a grade of C- or higher are eligible for diploma programs, and the remaining students are eligible for certificate and artisan programs.

Wednesday, June 7th, KUCCPS announced that due to improper application procedures, several students had missed out on university spots.

John Olouch, director of Placement Coordination and Career Development at KUCCPS, revealed to Kenyans.co.ke that students were making course selections but forgetting to submit them, leaving them in the selection basket.
