Sudi Blasts ‘Tribal’ Archbishop Muheria for Attacking Ruto’s Government!

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has strongly criticized Archbishop Anthony Muheria for his repeated attacks on the government.

Muheria, who leads the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri, once again took a swipe at President William Ruto and his administration, accusing them of making empty promises instead of delivering real progress.

The archbishop faulted the government for failing to implement its development agenda, arguing that Ruto and his team were more focused on publicity than actual results. He compared the administration to an “advertising agency” that thrives on promises rather than action.

Muheria urged the government to stop publicizing its plans and instead focus on tangible development that benefits Kenyans.

    Sudi Hits Back at Muheria

Responding to Muheria’s remarks, Sudi accused him of bias and ethnic favoritism. He questioned why the cleric was only vocal about government shortcomings under Ruto while remaining silent during the reigns of former presidents Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta.

The MP defended the government’s communication strategy, pointing out that even the Catholic Church engages in public outreach.

“Announcements happen everywhere, including in the Catholic Church. I’m asking you to stop politicking. Your job is to guide us spiritually, not engage in tribal-driven attacks. Where were you during Kibaki and Uhuru’s time? Stop the daily accusations and focus on your divine duty,” Sudi posted on X.

    Wetangula Backs Government’s Communication Strategy

Sudi’s remarks followed a similar response from National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, who urged Muheria and other religious leaders to stick to spiritual matters.

“If you are a bishop, focus on saving souls. Sometimes, when you provoke people, they may respond in a way that is not appropriate,” Wetangula stated.

He defended the government’s responsibility to keep citizens informed, citing Kenya’s 2010 Constitution, which mandates transparency and public participation.

“The Constitution puts the people at the center. Kenyans must be informed about government activities. So yes, the government must continue communicating its projects,” Wetangula added.
