Explosive Twist: 2 KDF Soldiers Nabbed for Bar Grenade Drama
Saturday morning, at approximately 6:00 am, two Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) personnel were apprehended in connection with the detonation of two grenades at a local bar in Sotik, Bomet County.
The police OB reports that one of the servicemen was away for the weekend, while the other was on leave. The report failed to provide details regarding the potential consumption of alcohol by the two individuals preceding the explosion or any confrontation that may have ensued.
Nevertheless, the report elaborated that the pair hurled two explosives into the air, producing an audible explosion.
“Today at around 0600 hours the chairman of Chebole Trading Center notified the police that there were 2 loud sounds suspected to be gunshots within the trading center,” read part of the police report.
After the occurrence, personnel from the Sotik Police Station promptly arrived at the location to evaluate the circumstances.
At the bar, two grenade charges were discovered.

“A search was conducted in the bar and two grenade pins were recovered suspected to be from grenades that caused the explosion sounds, “read part of the report.
A black bag allegedly belonged to a soldier and was discovered during the search operation concealed behind the counter of the pub and restaurant.
In the bag, officers discovered and seized four grenades in addition to additional personal belongings.
Investigations continued and an inventory of the seized items was carried out at the Mutarakwa Police Post, where the two suspects were promptly transported.
Thankfully, there were no reported injuries when the munitions detonated.
Following this, the military police were summoned to aid in the ongoing inquiries.
