Cabinet Shakeup: Governor Natembeya Implements Reorganization

Governor George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia has reshuffled his County Executive Committee (CEC) and key officials. In a move he claims will promote efficiency in county operations and improve service delivery.

The governor stated in a statement dated Wednesday, July 19, that the reforms will take effect immediately.

“By Article 31 (d) of the County Government Act 2012, the above-mentioned County Executive Members have been reassigned,” Natembeya said.

CEC Samson Otieno Ojwang has been transferred from Public Service Management to Education and Technical Training as part of the new reforms.

Meanwhile, Julie Cherobon Kichwen Rutto, the Education CEC, was transferred to Public Service Management.

Kennedy Etyang Seme, former Chief Officer of Public Service Management, will take over the Trade and Industrialisation Department.

Philip Kapten was transferred from Lands to Public Service Management, and Jane Masika Wachenge was transferred from Education and Technical Training to Gender, Youth, Sports Culture, and Tourism.

Patrick Osoro Okong’o, Chief Officer of Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operative Development, was appointed to Lands.

Finally, Isaac Omari Ndiema from Trade and Industrialisation will work in Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operative Development) and Roselyne Nasiebanda from Education will work in Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism.

According to Natembeya, the new modifications will improve service to the people of Trans Nzoia.

His reshuffle comes just days after his Nairobi counterpart, Johnson Sakaja, made cabinet changes.

CECs lead several departments in counties, similar to the cabinet of the national government.
