SOG Neutralizes 20 Al-Shabaab Suspects in Mandera Clash

The Special Operations Group (SOG) team of the National Police Service. Neutralized twenty suspected Al-Shabaab militants at the Ogorwen Location within Mandera County on Thursday, July 6.

According to the National Police Service, the militants attacked the elite squad during a routine evening patrol.

“According to preliminary investigations, the heavy gunfire exchange between the officers on patrol and the militants resulted in the death of twenty militants and the injury of eight NPS officers.

“As a Service, we commend our Officers’ commitment to duty and reaffirm our dedication to enhancing national security.

Officers recovered a variety of weapons from the site where Al-Shabaab militants were killed in combat.

On Thursday, July 6, in Turkana County, while addressing the same issue. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki vowed to crush the Al-Shabaab militants. Noting that they had caused many deaths and sufferings among Kenyans.

Kindiki also described how a recent attack resulted in the deaths of several of a young officer’s coworkers.

Lamu County, Kenya, was attacked by suspected al-Shabaab militants, resulting in the loss of one leg by a 23-year-old police officer. It was a harrowingly emotional tale.

Kindiki explained that sadly, one of the injured officers had to have his leg amputated to save his life due to the severe injuries caused by the gunshots.

“It is extremely tragic that a 23-year-old man lost his leg after being attacked by these thugs. I have returned from Northern Kenya, where I lost several police officers in an ambush.

“I also lost another group of officers in Lamu County when they were attacked by al-Shabaab militants.” We will not tolerate terror against innocent Kenyans, said Kindiki.

Before the government could launch an operation, the Cabinet Secretary for the Interior declared Turkana Forest a crime scene and ordered ordinary citizens to leave the area.

“As a result, I am mandating that everyone living or conducting business in the Turkana South Forest vacate immediately. In the forest, only wildlife and wildlife officers will be present.

“We have made a resolute decision to deal with and eradicate these criminals. Kindiki ordered, “We have observed that they frequently return to their hideout a few days after a National Police Service operation.”

Kindiki forewarned the suspects that the National Police Service had analyzed their movements and strategies, as well as all of their methods for causing harm to others.

“We now know their tricks, and we will take them down,” Kindiki warned as he commanded police officers to eliminate any suspected bandits.
