Ruto’s Key Message to Gusii Leaders at Kisii State Lodge

President William Ruto urged political leaders from the Gusii region to unite, cease their disputes, and focus on serving their constituents.

The president emphasized that his administration would provide equal opportunities across all regions, promising to ensure fair distribution of national resources.

Ruto also called on regional governors to synchronize their development plans to more effectively meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

In a meeting with elected and nominated leaders from the region, the president stressed that a diverse government would represent the entire country, aiming to advance national progress.

Politicians who attended the meeting at Kisii State Lodge reported that the president was clear that collaboration among leaders is essential.

The meeting saw attendance from governors Simba Arati of Kisii and Amos Nyaribo of Nyamira, who both pledged to cooperate despite their different party affiliations.

North Mugirango MP Jasho Nyamoko stated that the president urged leaders to prioritize the welfare of Kenyans, particularly their constituents, over partisan interests.

Nyamoko noted that Ruto highlighted the chance to transform Kenya and improve livelihoods by setting aside petty politics and working together.

The UDA MP added that the president promised to review the memoranda submitted last year by leaders from Nyamira and Kisii counties.

Nyamoko described the discussion as open and honest, allowing leaders to directly address their issues with the president.

The focus in both counties is on expanding the Kisii-Keroka-Sotik road to facilitate regional trade, as the current road’s condition leads to high transport costs.

Arati expressed gratitude to the President for his three-day visit to the region, noting the start of several development projects and expressing hope for continued collaboration with the national government.

During the State Lodge meeting, the President addressed concerns about regional representation in the national Executive, referencing the recent appointment of Education CS Migosi Ogamba from Kitutu Chache and Solicitor General Shadrak Mose from Nyamira.

Ruto assured that every region would be included in the distribution of national resources and highlighted the administration’s progress in addressing regional concerns.

The president also underscored the importance of solidifying the recent political reconciliation between Arati and National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro for Kisii’s stability.

On August 9, President Ruto facilitated a political ceasefire between Arati and Osoro at State House Nairobi, ahead of his Gusii region tour.

The long-standing political tension between the two has led to clashes and violence, including a January confrontation that resulted in injuries and property damage.
