Ruto Seeks to Prevent Africans Working Abroad Despite Numerous ‘Foreign Job’ Trips
President William Ruto has urged the African continent to leverage its renewable energy resources to generate opportunities for the people of Africa.
Addressing the audience on Sunday at the African Union Commission headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the leader asserted that Africa has transitioned from being a passive victim of swiftly evolving climate change to actively exploring the potential of clean energy within the continent.
Consequently, he urged fellow African leaders and the African Union to investigate potential employment opportunities throughout the continent.
The leader emphasized that these opportunities would serve to deter unemployed Africans from undertaking perilous journeys in search of better prospects on other continents.
“We, today, are very proud that Africa is no longer the continent that was viewed just as a mere victim of climate change,” he told the gathering.
“Today, we are repositioning Africa as the continent that has the largest potential for renewable energy and we can use this potential, transform it into an opportunity and change it into an investment that will give not just an Africa green industrialization trajectory but it will also create opportunities for employment and industrialization that will eventually create enough jobs and stop our young people from migrating using rickety instruments in dangerous voyages to the rest of the world.”

The suggestion is put forth one day following his designation as the African Union’s Advocate for Institutional Reform, succeeding Rwanda’s Paul Kagame in this role.
He is responsible for offering political guidance and overseeing the implementation of the extensive Institutional Reform initiative.
Since assuming leadership, the President has placed a high priority on generating employment opportunities for Kenyan citizens, both within the country and abroad.
Recently, Ruto disclosed that he has generated more than 120,000 opportunities through his Affordable Housing initiative and an extra 100,000 in the field of healthcare.
The President has also explored prospects for providing opportunities to Kenyan citizens in European nations, the Middle East, and the Americas.
For example, Ruto disclosed that nearly one million employment opportunities are anticipated for Kenyan individuals in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, and Serbia.
As it stands, Saudi Arabia and the UK have already hired nurses.
