Ndindi Nyoro’s Cross-Country Tour Sparks Fresh Tensions in Gachagua’s Faction
Despite President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua advising young politicians to reduce competition for the 2027 positions, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro continues to face criticism due to his increased tours.
During the past week, Nyoro, the primary focus of Ruto and Gachagua’s cautionary messages, conducted a series of nationwide tours, which involved interacting with representatives from various constituencies.
On Friday, January 26th, Nyoro visited Malindi to inaugurate a school following an invitation from Ali Wario, his counterpart in Garsen.
“Touch down Malindi on the way to Garsen Constituency, Tana River County for a series of development projects. Welcomed by Garsen MP Hon Ali Wario and Hon Rehema Hassan,” Nyoro stated via his social media pages.
On Thursday, he convened a gathering with Anne Waiguru, the Chairperson of the Council of Governors, along with Gladys Wanga (Governor of Homa Bay), Stephen Sang (Governor of Nandi), and Mutahi Kahiga (Governor of Nyeri).
The gathering focused on approving the County Government’s Supplementary Allocation Bill, but it faced opposition from some UDA leaders who went so far as to label the meeting as ineffective.
Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa from Kiambu conveyed his apprehensions regarding the Member of Parliament holding discussions with the Council of Governors independently on a matter of national significance.
“My concern lies in understanding why Ndindi would engage with the Council of Governors alone regarding a contested matter, akin to a judge meeting a suspect or witness before a hearing,” Karungo stated in response.
Senator Boni Khalwale from Kakamega went on to criticize Nyoro, asserting that the gathering was driven by self-centered motives.
“You are leading the National Assembly team, and I am leading the Senate team at these important mediation talks. Meeting the governors alone is the best way how not to make the mediation talks succeed. Learn from the best,” Khalwale lamented.

Nyoro was present at the farewell event for Mzee Joseph Kipkemei, who is the father of MP Justice Kemei in Kericho on Saturday, January 20th.
President William Ruto cautioned members of the UDA party against engaging in politics at this time when discussing succession politics.
During his speech on Tuesday in Gilgil, Nakuru, Ruto encouraged leaders to concentrate on the country’s development in their respective capacities. He emphasized that getting involved in the 2027 succession politics would be tantamount to disrespecting the Kenyan people.
Numerous UDA and Kenya Kwanza political figures promoted Nyoro as the prospective successor to Deputy President Gachagua in 2027, resulting in the formation of various factions.
