Mudavadi hints at a possible Cabinet reshuffle

Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi has hinted at a possible looming reshuffle in Cabinet.

Mudavadi in a statement on Sunday said President William Ruto has been clear on his interests to serve the people of Kenya, adding that all government appointees are expected to ensure efficiency and effectiveness at all times.

Even though he did not give details about the issue, Mudavadi said it is within the President’s right to make changes in government when he feels it is the right time and wisdom.

“The President is clear about one thing, this administration is about efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery to the people,” Mudavadi said..

“The moment any appointee steps out of line or acts in a manner that is inconsistent with this mantra, it is not beyond the President to make changes in senior ranks of the Executive. At an appropriate time and in his wisdom, the President could make such changes,” he added.

In the recent past, anxiety has seemingly gripped top government officials after talks emerged of a looming radical reshuffle in Ruto’s administration.

This was after Ruto publicly reprimanded ‘incompetent and lazy’ Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries.

Kenyans have also piled pressure on the President over the dismal performance of his ‘dream team’.

Reports also indicate that Ruto is under pressure from some of the world powers to crack the whip on some of the top officers whose conduct has been termed unbecoming.

On Sunday, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale called on President William Ruto to sack three of his senior officials amid the rising cost of fuel in the country.
