Linturi Accuses MP Kitany of Leading Effort to Oust Him

Agriculture and Livestock Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has claimed that Aldai MP Marianne Kitany is the driving force behind the motion seeking his removal.

Linturi’s attorney Muthomi Thiankolu informed the Select Committee evaluating the proposed removal of the Cabinet Secretary that Kitany, not Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, is responsible for attempting to oust his client.

“The individual presenting this Motion is the Member for Aldai,” Thiankolu emphasized.

Kitany and the Cabinet Secretary were previously in a relationship before separating.

Wamboka introduced the impeachment motion, which the National Assembly approved on May 2.

Linturi faces three allegations: gross misconduct, a gross violation of the constitution, and criminal activity.

In his arguments, Thiankolu told the committee led by Naomi Waqo that the second charge stems from the disagreements between Linturi and Aldai MP.

“The disputes between Linturi and Aldai MP are personal. The key question is how the motion’s sponsor used their differences as the basis for the second allegation,” Thiankolu stated.

Thiankolu added that all legal cases between the two parties were decided in favor of his client.

“Someone lost cases in various courts and then based the second charge on these losses,” he noted.

Thiankolu also mentioned that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations investigated allegations made by the MP against the CS and sent the files to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who closed the cases.

“The DPP dismissed all these matters on May 31 last year,” he said.

In his submission, Wamboka advised Linturi to avoid involving Aldai MP in the impeachment process.

While arguing for the CS’s impeachment before the special 11-member committee, Wamboka expressed disappointment that the CS mentioned the MP in his response letter.

“I reviewed the CS’s responses, and they resemble a love letter from a spurned lover,” he remarked.

“Serious issues should not be trivialized into romantic matters,” he added.

“Ukiachwa achika,” he concluded.

Wamboka criticized the CS for continuously involving Kitany in every matter despite her having her own family.
