A scene of turmoil unfolded at Machakos Law Courts on January 31 when Boniface Maeke, a Member of the Machakos County Assembly, was disrobed by the county inspectorate while evading apprehension.

Maeke experienced a fractured leg while attempting to oppose a group of six county inspectorates.

After an intense battle resulting in injuries, the Askaris successfully loaded him onto the van belonging to the county government.

The Officer in Charge (OCS) from Machakos County, who was accompanying the team, successfully brought Maeke to the police station and documented a statement.

Information from sources familiar with the situation revealed that Maeke had visited the courthouse in support of his friend, who had been apprehended the day before.

On January 30, Douglas Musyoka, his companion, was apprehended following allegations from the county government that he constructed his residence in violation of the local government’s stipulations.

It was during this incident that the inspectorates identified him and apprehended him forcefully.

After the drama, he was taken to hospital for treatment.

As per the Machakos County government regulations, individuals intending to construct a residence must obtain approval for their building by submitting the appropriate ownership title deeds and forms confirming clearance of land rates.

Following that, they must wait for a maximum of two weeks for the town planners to approve.

Over the course of the next fortnight, the urban planners engage in on-site inspections to discuss the specifications of the structures.

Nevertheless, even with approval, if the property owner violates county regulations, they could be subject to arrest.
