Kalonzo Musyoka: I Will Run for President
Wiper party leader and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya principal Kalonzo Musyoka has asserted his leadership over the coalition and declared his readiness to be its presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election.
Mr. Musyoka emphasized his refusal to join President William Ruto’s administration, even though prominent members of Raila Odinga’s ODM party have accepted Cabinet positions. He affirmed the coalition’s resilience.
“Ruto is aware that I am his primary contender for 2027. He once mocked me during a meeting in Homa Bay, but it will be a serious contest when we face each other in the next election,” Mr. Musyoka stated, noting his efforts to form alliances with like-minded Kenyans to challenge the Kenya Kwanza government in the upcoming election.

“We are inviting Kenyans from every part of the country who are committed to real-time change in Kenya,” he declared.
The Wiper leader expressed his desire to be on the right side of history by supporting Kenyans against the current administration.
“Kenyans, especially the Gen Z, are determined to eliminate corruption, tribalism, and nepotism, which have plagued Kenya for years. I cannot betray their trust,” Mr. Musyoka declared.
He also refuted claims that he was being courted for the Attorney-General position, clarifying his disinterest in becoming President Ruto’s chief legal advisor.
“The notion of me being appointed Attorney-General is absurd. I have served as Vice-President and held multiple ministerial roles. Do you think I would serve Ruto as Attorney-General? That is an unrealistic expectation,” he commented.
