Governor Irungu Kang’ata Releases CCTV Footage After Woman Steals Laptop at Hospital (VIDEO)

On Monday, Governor Irungu Kang’ata of Murang’a initiated a search for a thief who was caught on CCTV stealing a laptop.

In his public appeal, the county leader disclosed that the electronic device was taken from Murang’a County Level 5 hospital on Sunday at 8:35 pm.

The brief video excerpts, each lasting less than a minute, depicted a woman wearing a red top and slim black jeans. In the footage, she entered an office and later reappeared carrying a laptop.

In the subsequent clip, she was seen walking rapidly in the direction of the exit.

“Murang’a County Level 5 hospital (Murang’a Town ) laptop was stolen yesterday at 8.35 pm,” read the appeal the Governor shared on his personal Twitter handle.

“Help us identify this suspect by calling or texting our helpline number; 0757 562988.”

Kang’ata, nonetheless, did not specify whether there was any risk to sensitive information after the theft.

The hospital experienced losses in its equipment due to minor criminal activities, including an incident in October of the previous year, where a surveillance video recorded a thief taking away a bench.

At that moment, Kang’ata urged the public to assist him in identifying the culprit, a plea that was met with disapproval from a significant portion of his supporters.

The surveillance footage depicted the thief pulling the chair through the hospital, and then hoisting it onto his shoulders as he exited the premises.

“Help us find this thief who stole a bench at Murang’a Level 5 Hospital. Report to the nearest police station,” he wrote.

The capture of the thief remains uncertain, yet survey participants suggested that the county government should enhance security measures at the hospital. Several individuals expressed dissatisfaction with the unclear quality of the CCTV footage.
