Exclusive Opportunity for Kenyans: Ksh 1.3M Award Launched by US; Step-by-Step Application Guide

Wednesday, June 14th, the US Embassy in Nairobi announced the launch of a global award for Kenyans who have contributed to the positive growth of their industry.

The US Embassy noted in a statement that the award winners will receive Ksh1.3 million (USD 10,000) to implement projects in Kenya.

Alumni Impact Award, according to the administration of President Joe Biden.

The program primarily targets recipients of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme, a government-sponsored international exchange program that allows professionals to pursue graduate-level studies at American universities.

“These grants enable Humphrey alumni to pursue projects that apply the knowledge and skills gained during their Fellowship year to address local, national, and global issues or challenges in their home country or region and to effect change across their fields of expertise and organizations,” the statement read in part.

Kenyans would be required to address climate change, environmental concerns, and food security, among other issues.
Other areas include misinformation, violations of human rights, and substance abuse.

Requirements for Applicants

Before being eligible for the grant, Humphrey alumni based in Kenya must meet several requirements set by the US government, including residing in Kenya during the project’s implementation phase.

The implementation of the proposed project must begin in October 2023 and conclude in October 2024.

Required Documents

To be considered, Kenyans must fill out the Humphrey Fellowship’s Google form application.

Using the provided template, they must also include a list of project objectives and activities. Applicants must acquire commitment letters from partnering organizations and institutions.

In addition, a detailed budget would be required before consideration.

The US Embassy in Nairobi urged Kenyan Humphrey alums to submit the necessary paperwork via the Humphrey Fellowship website.
