Ex-UK Prime Minister Appoints Najib Balala For Global Job
Former Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has been appointed by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) as a Tourism Advisor.
The former CS said he would be part of a global team of strategists, policy experts, and delivery practitioners who will work with political leaders and governments to drive change across the world.
“Honored to have been appointed by Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) as a Tourism Advisor part of a global team of political strategists, policy experts, and delivery practitioners who work with governments and political leaders around the world to drive change, the former CS said in a statement.”
Balala’s main role as the TBI tourism advisor will range from advising the institute on tourism strategies, policies, and programs.
The Tony Blair Institute (TBI) is a global organization founded by former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Tony Blair served as the Prime Minister of the UK between 1997 and 2007. He was the leader of the Labour Party from 1994 to 2007 and established the Tony Blair Institute on December 1, 2016.

The institute serves several roles including a governance role which mainly focuses on working with governments and leaders of fragile, developing, and emerging states to enhance their effectiveness. They help governments and leaders make their vision for development a reality.
The global institute has nearly 800 changemakers, and it serves in more than 30 countries across five continents.
Balala had previously served as the Cabinet Secretary for Mining between 2013 and 2015 before he was moved to the Tourism Ministry in June 2015 and served in the position until October 2022, all this under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On September 2023 former Tourism and Wildlife CS was appointed as a director, to serve on the board of Vipingo Ridge, a luxury resort in Kilifi, Kilifi Luxury Resort confirmed his appointment in a letter.
Balala was appointed alongside Ken Luusa and Andrew Musangi, who cannot take up the role due to his new role as Central Bank of Kenya(CBK) Chairperson
In 2022 Balala also served as the vice president of Fauna and Flora International, the role of the organization was to protect threatened species and ecosystems worldwide.
