Education CS Ezekiel Machogu Announces KCSE 2023 Results Release Date

Ezekiel Machogu, the Education Cabinet Secretary, has revealed the scheduled date for the publication of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) results.

According to the CS, the results will be released in the second week of January 2024.

Machogu also mentioned that the process of assembling, confirming, and authenticating scores is presently in progress.

Following December 8, 2023, The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) released a statement refuting rumors suggesting that the KCSE results would be made available before the Christmas holiday.

KNEC stated that the assessment of the KCSE exams was continuing and emphasized their separation from the online rumors or reports.

“KNEC has made no such statement. Marking of KCSE is ongoing and the results will be released when they are ready,” the Exams Council clarified.

Approximately 903,260 students took part in the conclusive secondary school exams, commencing on October 23, 2023, featuring oral assessments and concluding on November 24, 2023.

KNEC acknowledged mistakes in the recently published KCPE results following numerous complaints from parents and candidates.

Certain students reported the absence of grades in specific subjects, whereas others received grades for courses they didn’t take.

The Education Cabinet Secretary supported KNEC by asserting that the chaos was the fault of the contracted SMS service provider.

Machogu reiterated that the information displayed on the KNEC portal was indeed correct, and any inaccuracies were limited to individuals who received their results through SMS.

Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio, remarked that the government had mishandled the exams when addressing the alleged irregularities.

“Look at the examinations, students in the same class get similar marks in a subject, there is no bright or weak student,”

“What type of an exam is that? That is a Ruto and Gachagua exam,” Raila stated.
