DP to Trans Nzoia: Opposition Has Nothing to Offer, Support Ruto
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on the residents of Trans Nzoia to support their leaders and President William Ruto to foster unity in the region.
On Sunday, the Deputy President addressed the congregation during a church ceremony in Trans Nzoia County.
Gachagua commended Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya for his willingness to collaborate with the governing administration, even though he belongs to the opposition.
“That is leadership. That is being pragmatic because all the resources are in the government,” he said.
Gachagua asserted that the opposition lacks meaningful solutions for the residents of Trans Nzoia, encouraging them to unite in support of President William Ruto.
He mentioned that nobody desires to join the opposition, and Gachagua stated that those who ventured into the opposition experienced it firsthand and found it to be unsuccessful.
He observed that Ruto emerged victorious over Raila in the recent general elections, even though the latter received backing from the State.
“Now that William Ruto is the President, is there a place Raila can go through to win in 2027?” Gachagua posed.
In January 2023, before Ruto’s initial visit to Trans Nzoia, Natembeya reassured his dedication to collaborating with the President to promote progress in the region.

Addressing a community radio station, Natembeya emphasized his singular dedication to advancing the county’s development, underscoring the importance of collaborating with leaders from various political perspectives.
“I only have one agenda, and that’s developing my county and ensuring that the living standards of our people are upscaled. For that reason, I am ready to work hand in hand with the national government and other leaders. I want to see that we change the story of Trans Nzoia, for the better” he said.
In March, Natembeya conveyed that Raila had instructed them to collaborate with the national government.
“Raila is the one who taught us how to cooperate with the national government, he knows that county finances are not enough,” he said.
The governor said that Western Kenya has been continuously labeled as an ‘opposition’ zone and therefore lacks state support.
He said that Kisumu, unlike other counties is developed with major highways and a modern market.
“When you visit Kisumu, it is a city, they have a highway, a port, and a modern market, is that the work of Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o?” he posed.
