DP Gachagua Steps in for Ruto at the Brussels Global Gateway Forum
Vice President Rigathi Gachagua is scheduled to leave the country for a three-day visit to Belgium, where he is anticipated to participate in bilateral discussions and other engagements.
Gachagua’s top priority will be to represent William Ruto at the October 25 Gateway Global Forum event hosted by the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium.
”The Forum aims to strengthen relations between the European Union (EU) and its partners, including Kenya, in key sectors such as digital innovation, green energy, transport, healthcare, and education,” a statement released by Gachagua’s office read.
Over forty high-level government representatives from the EU and its partner countries, financial institutions, the private sector, civil societies, and international organizations will attend the two-day forum.
The forum will discuss global investment in infrastructure, the challenges encountered by the public and private sectors, and their respective solutions.
By his recent reforms to streamline the tea and coffee sectors, Gachagua will also use the tour to market Kenya’s agricultural products.

In addition, Gachagua will meet Kenyans residing in Belgium at the Tangla Hotel in Brussels.
”The Deputy President will extend his travel to Germany for other engagements on Coffee, Climate Change, Renewable Energy, among others,” the statement further read.
The Kenyan Diaspora in Germany will meet with Gachagua at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich.
This follows Gachagua’s announcement on October 22 that the Kenyan government is negotiating a deal with the American coffee chain Starbucks via the US Ambassador to Kenya that will enable the multinational to purchase coffee directly from Kenyan farmers.
Since acquiring office as Vice President, Gachagua has enacted a series of reforms in the agriculture sector aimed at cleaning houses and eliminating cartels.
