Crowd Cheers as Raila Delivers Condolence Message in Malawi on Behalf of Ruto
A crowd at Malawi’s Bingu National Stadium enthusiastically supported Kenyaโs opposition leader, Raila Odinga, during his speech.
Raila, representing Kenya and President William Ruto at the funeral of the late Malawi Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, conveyed Ruto’s condolences.
โI come here with a very deep heart and I speak on behalf of the people of Kenya. First I want to convey my condolences on behalf of the President of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto,โ Raila stated.
As soon as the former Prime Minister took the stage, he was greeted with loud cheers before he praised Chilima’s political stance.
Railaโs speech was interrupted by louder cheers, particularly when he highlighted Chilimaโs dedication to equitable resource distribution.
Raila also shared Kenyaโs grief over the loss of General Francis Ogolla, the Chief of Defence Forces, who died in a plane crash.
In his address, Raila advocated for African unity and equitable access to resources from Western countries.

โWe are not asking for charity, we are asking for fairness in the international world markets. We want to see that Africans can add value to raw materials, and we are respected,โ Raila said.
He expressed sympathy for Malawi’s drought-induced hardships caused by climate change.
Raila further pledged to advocate for compensation for African nations affected by climate change, emphasizing that Africans suffer from events they scarcely contributed to.
The Azimio leader also called for relaxed travel measures across Africa, stating that the current visa system hinders African unity.
Chilima died on June 10 when a military aircraft carrying him and nine others crashed.
All crew members and passengers, including former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri, also perished in the crash.
