Police have disclosed Nicola Bulley’s “vulnerabilities” that made her a high-risk missing person.

Nicola, 45, vanished on January 27 while walking her dog at St. Michael’s in Wyre, Lancashire.

Police said: “Nicola’s family remains our primary concern, and we continue to keep them in our thoughts.

Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith gave an update on the case today

“We have officers with specialized training who continue to support and update them daily.

“We have described how Nicola had some vulnerabilities at the time of her disappearance, and we would like to elaborate.

“Sadly, it is evident from speaking with Paul and the family that Nicola has struggled with alcohol abuse in the past due to her ongoing menopause-related difficulties, and that these issues have resurfaced in recent months.

“This created significant difficulties for Paul and his family.

“On January 10, a response car staffed by both police and health professionals responded to a report of concern for Nicola’s welfare at her residence.

“This incident has not resulted in any arrests, but it is being investigated.

“It is unusual for us to go into such depth about someone’s private life, but we felt it was important to clarify what we meant by “vulnerabilities” to prevent further speculation or misunderstanding.

“We have explained to the family of Nicola why we have released this additional information, and we respectfully request that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”

Cops reveal missing mum Nicola Bulley’s ‘vulnerabilities’ during high-risk disappearance. Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith confirmed that their “main working hypothesis” regarding Nicola’s death remains that she fell into a river.

However, she revealed two other explanations for her disappearance: Nicola’s voluntary departure from the area and the involvement of a third party.

DS Smith stated, “There is not a single piece of evidence or piece of information that suggests third-party involvement.”

There is also no evidence that Nicola voluntarily left the field.

When asked if she hoped to find her alive, DS Smith responded, “I hope more than anything that we find Nicola Bulley alive.”

The disappearance of Nicola has gripped the nation after her phone was discovered on a bench while still connected to a work conference call.

Willow, Nicola’s springer spaniel, was also found, but there was no sign of the mother of two.

Previously, Lancashire Police stated that their “main working hypothesis” is that Nicola “tragically fell into the river.”

However, experts and Nicola’s family and friends have criticized the force for focusing so heavily on the theory.

Paul Ansell, her partner, believes “something happened” on the day she vanished because people do not simply “disappear into thin air.”

Officers previously released a timeline detailing the final movements of the missing mother before she vanished.

Nicola began her walk to the River Wyre along the towpath at 8:43 a.m., after dropping off her two children at school.

A dog walker who knew Nicola reportedly spotted her walking around the lower field with her springer spaniel Willow approximately seven minutes later.

The witness stated that their two dogs briefly interacted before she departed from Nicola via the river path.

The mother emailed her boss at Exclusively Mortgages at 8:53 a.m.

She then joined a Teams call at 9:01 a.m., and nine minutes later was spotted walking Willow on the upper field.

The police report that the work call ended at 9.30 a.m., but Nicola remained logged on.

At approximately 9:35 a.m., the mobile phone and Willow were discovered on a bench by the river, but Nicola was nowhere to be found.

Police are investigating a two-hour gap between Nicola’s last sighting and her disappearance being reported at 11 a.m.
