Bring it on- Nyeri Governor Kahiga on Gachagua’s ‘Planned’ Impeachment

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has said any plan to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be doomed.

Kahiga said efforts by some leaders to bring an impeachment motion against the DP will not see the light of stating that the accusations against Gachagua are frivolous.

“We are told that the Deputy President opposed the Finance Bill during a Cabinet meeting. We should clap for that man because the Finance Bill was ultimately rejected by Kenyans,” he said.

“He (Gachagua) has connections to the ground as opposed to those who went to Parliament to represent people but they no longer represent them.”

Kahiga termed as unfortunate plans to remove the DP.

“We must say that if there is an impeachment being considered against the DP, that is an affront towards the mountain and it is an attack on us as people, and we will not take it lightly,” he added.

“Whoever feels that is the way to go, we tell them to bring it on and we will deal with it when that time comes.”

The Nyeri county boss nonetheless said he was certain President William Ruto would not want to go in that direction.

“But I would want to say that as a wise politician, I do not see the President going along that kind of way,” Kahiga said.

“The country needs to be settled. We’ve lost two years and one which is gone because of Gen Z demonstrations. We need to bring the country to calmness. We have Cabinet Secretaries who have to be looked into,” he added.

He advised MPs to ensure they give Kenyans Cabinet Secretaries they deserve.

“MPs should listen to the ground so that they do not bring more problems. If the people say they do not want an individual, feel free to reject that person. The President has 50 million Kenyans to choose from and he should not be held hostage by anybody for any reason,” Kahiga said.
