Media personality and entrepreneur Betty Kyallo has joined Cape Media Limited to take on the role of news anchor for TV 47.

Kyallo shared the news on Facebook, expressing excitement about returning to television after nearly four years and calling TV 47 her new home.

Kyallo began her career at KTN, where she started as an intern and later became a prime-time news anchor, hosting the 9 pm news segment titled Friday Briefing.

She later transitioned to K24, where she hosted the weekend show “Up Close with Betty.”

Kyallo left K24 in May 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and started her own salon and spa business called Flair by Betty in Kilimani.

In mid-2021, Kyallo expanded her beauty business by opening Aftershave by Flair Barbershop and BK Closet.

On June 17, 2022, Showmax introduced the reality series “Kyallo Kulture,” which focuses on Betty’s life and her relationships with her younger sisters, Mercy and Gloria.

Last month, Kyallo disclosed that high rent costs had become a significant challenge for her business, leading to the auction of items from her Flair by Betty salon due to rent arrears.

“Running a business in Kenya has become very challenging. Landlords are unwilling to reduce rent, which adds strain to struggling businesses due to the economic downturn,” Kyallo shared on Instagram.

A public notice published in local newspapers by Keysian Auctioneers listed items from the premises that were set to be sold in a public auction on April 17, 2024.

These items included three dismantled shelves, a massage bed frame, two massage beds, a small serving rack, a glass shelf, four large mirrors, towel warmers, and dressing tables.
