Affordable Degree Courses at KUCCPS Portal 2023: List of Universities and Charges
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened the application portal, allowing 2022 KCSE candidates to apply and modify their preferred university courses after months of anticipation.
During the launch of the portal, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu stated that KCSE candidates who choose public universities will be eligible for both government scholarships and loans, whereas those who choose private universities will only be eligible for government loans.
39 public universities and 30 private universities are eligible for Higher Education and Loan Board (HELB) loans, according to the KUCCPS portal.
Scholarships and HELB loans are available to 189 public colleges accredited by the Ministry of Education.
In contrast, seven Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions were chosen.
Bachelor of Business
B.COM is one of the most marketable degrees for those interested in pursuing a career in business management. The required cluster points are a mean grade of C and an A or B in mathematics.
The course is available at Pan Africa Christian University for a total of Ksh312,000 per semester, whereas the Management University of Africa offers the lowest price at Ksh78,600.
The cost of the course at Lukenya University, Mount Kenya University, Zetech University, and Gretsa University is Ksh86,200, Ksh105,00, Ksh130,600, and Ksh132,000, respectively.
In contrast, the University of Nairobi University offers a course for Ksh220,150 for the first academic year.
Bachelor of Arts in Education
At Ksh82,350, Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology is the institution with the lowest tuition for this course.

Kisii University charges Ksh283,135 for the identical course. The information was made public upon the launch of the portal.
The tuition at KCA University is Ksh88,540, while that at Mount Kenya University is Ksh105,000. This course is available at Kenyatta University for Ksh183,600 per year.
Law
Bachelor of Law students wishing to enroll at Daystar University will be required to pay Ksh335,000 – the highest tuition rate compared to Mount Kenya University, which charges Ksh170,000.
Chuka University, Kenyatta University, and Maseno offer the lowest tuition fees at Ksh183,00, Ksh183,600, and Ksh183,600, respectively.
The annual tuition at Embu University is Ksh42,000, with the first and second semesters costing Ksh23,000 and Ksh19,000, respectively.
To study law at UoN, students must pay Ksh221,850 per year. The minimum cluster point required to study law is an average grade of B.
Nursing
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is an additional marketable degree for students interested in health sciences.
The minimum cluster point is equivalent to a mean grade of C+.
Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) has the lowest annual tuition rates at Ksh188,200, while Daystar University is the most expensive institution offering the program at Ksh340,000.
St.Paul’s University, Presbyterian University, South Eastern Kenya University, and Pwani University also offer reasonable tuition rates of Ksh229,450, Ksh251,700, and Ksh275,400, respectively.
Engineering
Students interested in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering will be required to pay an average of Ksh300,000 at all universities that offer these degree programs.
