Wamunyoro Residence: Why Gachagua’s New Power Hub is a Beehive of 2027 Political Activity
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has transformed his Wamunyoro residence into a political powerhouse, ramping up activities aimed at shaping his 2027 election strategy.
Positioning himself as a key political player, Gachagua has turned his rural home in Mathira, Nyeri County, into a hub for meetings with leaders, particularly from the Mount Kenya region. These gatherings are part of his broader plan to solidify his influence and build a new political network.
On Friday, Gachagua hosted over 20 political leaders at his Wamunyoro residence for strategic consultation, showcasing his growing clout. The meeting, highlighted by a shared lunch, underscored his intent to strengthen alliances and prepare for the 2027 elections.
Expanding his reach beyond Mount Kenya, Gachagua hosted a delegation of Kajiado West elders on January 8. This marked a clear signal of his ambitions to extend his political influence nationwide.
Key discussions with aspirants vying for various positions across Mount Kenya are also underway, with Gachagua promising to challenge Kenya Kwanza-aligned leaders. He has vowed to ensure that those who opposed him face a tough battle on the ballot. During a weekend church service in Embakasi, he warned that the Mount Kenya electorate, known for disliking betrayal, would deliver a harsh verdict in 2027.

Shifting from his former Karen residence, Gachagua now holds frequent strategy sessions at his rural home. Over the weekend, he met former Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka, who declined a government appointment from Ruto, signaling a broader outreach beyond his Mount Kenya base.
