To quell the gangs in Haiti, the U.S. Congress has suggested an urgent halt to the provision of firearms to the country.

The lawmakers also suggested a pause in forcibly sending back migrants attempting to escape Haiti amidst escalating chaos.

Congress proposed increased regulation of Florida ports, which the United Nations asserted are utilized as conduits for trafficking firearms to gangs.

A gathering was also organized involving human rights activists and Haitian groups to explore tactics for stopping deportations and potentially ending the illegal trade of firearms.

“We have to do everything we can as Americans to not continue to support the gangs by giving them the ammunition they need to terrorize the Haitian people,” noted a US lawmaker.

A plea was made to release the Ksh39 billion allocated for funding Kenya’s mission to Haiti, which had been delayed pending the conclusion of the transition process.

However, according to reports, Haitians express significant concerns about Kenya’s mission, citing previous missions that allegedly resulted in destructive aftermaths.

The most recent update occurred two weeks following a strong caution issued by Haiti’s notorious gang leader Jimmy Chérizier, also known as “Barbecue,” directed towards Kenya before their deployment.

Barbecue, in his opposition to the mission, labeled Kenya’s police officers as invaders and pledged to resist them.

He stated that the arrival of the officers would constitute interference with Haiti’s sovereignty, leading him to regard them as hostile intruders.

“We will consider them as invaders and we do not have to collaborate with any invaders that have come to walk over our independence,” Barbecue stated.

“Every new day that passes we have to come up with a new strategy so that we can advance,” he added.
