Brace for Impact- DP Kindiki Admits Ruto Gov’t Policies Will Bring ‘Painful’ Consequences
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said on Saturday evening that President William Ruto’s government is fully prepared to face any consequences that may arise from their controversial policy choices.
Speaking to Kenyans living in Windhoek, Namibia, Kindiki emphasized that the government is determined to improve key areas of the economy, even if it means making tough and unpopular decisions. He stated that reforms would focus on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Mining.
“These are the sectors we are changing to ensure Kenyans have more money in their pockets, even though the process involves difficult, painful, and unpopular measures,” he said.
He further explained that economic transformation is costly and that the government is willing to bear the burden. Kindiki stressed that as long as President Ruto is in office, he must do what is necessary to move the country forward.
The Deputy President also acknowledged that the government does not always have the perfect solutions. He welcomed advice from professionals on how to create better policies, encouraging those with different views to present their alternatives.
“We may not have the best ideas, but we have a clear plan to move the country forward. If anyone disagrees with us, they should offer a different policy proposal instead of just opposing us,” he said.

Kindiki urged people to avoid reducing important national discussions to tribal or petty matters. He encouraged those with different opinions to focus on policy issues, saying that healthy debate strengthens democracy.
He also highlighted the government’s efforts to improve Kenya’s economy and the well-being of its citizens, including those living abroad. He praised Kenyans in the diaspora for their contribution to national development, noting that their financial remittances have now surpassed earnings from tea, tourism, and horticulture.
“We appreciate what you are doing for our country. You have become Kenya’s biggest source of foreign exchange, surpassing industries that dominated for decades,” Kindiki noted.
He mentioned that remittances are now approaching Ksh.500 billion and that the government aims to increase this to Ksh.1 trillion, as stated in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
Additionally, Kindiki assured Kenyans in Namibia that the government is working to create more opportunities for them by strengthening diplomatic relations. He promised that their concerns would be addressed and encouraged them to support President Ruto’s plans for the country.
“We have a clear vision. Our policies are not random; they come from the manifesto on which we were elected,” he concluded.
