Tragic Suicide of Migori Teacher During School Parade
Students of a mixed and boarding secondary school in Migori County, Kenya were shocked to discover one of their instructors dangling from a tree on the school’s parade ground.
The deceased was a teacher at Kakrao Secondary School in Migori.
The teacher, according to a statement released by police on Tuesday, September 12th, argued with his wife, after which he retreated to a local pub.
After his drinking binge, the teacher went to school, where security officers let him in without knowing he had suicidal intent.
“He walked into the school compound at night, and went to the parade ground where he took his own life,” the police statement read in parts.
The teacher’s corpse was discovered in the morning as students prepared to begin classes.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that he had quarrels with his wife before committing suicide. The teacher had been commuting from his rural home to school,” the police statement read in parts.
According to the police, the secondary school teacher never returned home but was spotted at the local market with companions.
“Before that evening, he was seen making several calls possibly in arguments with his caller believed to be the wife who told him not to come home if he was drunk,” the statement claimed.
