Tragic Nakuru-Eldoret Highway Crash: Survivors Recount Chilling Moments as Bus Slows Before Deadly Collision
Survivors of a tragic Saturday morning accident on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, which claimed two lives and left numerous others injured, have shared their accounts of the moments leading up to the crash.
One survivor detailed that the bus was initially moving at a regular speed before it unexpectedly slowed down significantly.
Passengers grew alarmed by the sudden drop in speed and began urging the driver to pick up the pace, expressing their concerns.
As the bus neared the Twin Bridge area, it collided head-on with an oncoming lorry, which then struck a nearby salon car.
The bus lost control, veering off the road and rolling down a valley before landing in a water stream.

“There were two conductors and a co-driver on board. We had been traveling for some time when the bus abruptly slowed down. We couldnโt tell if the driver had dozed off,” one survivor recounted.
โWhen we reached this particular section, the bus suddenly collided with a lorry, which then hit a car. The bus overturned.โ
Another survivor noted that the bus, which had been speeding earlier, started slowing down as it approached the Twin Bridge. Despite passengers voicing their worries, the driver continued until the bus crashed into an oncoming lorry.
The 4 a.m. accident caused a major traffic jam on the busy highway as rescue teams, including the Kenya Red Cross, rushed to assist those trapped in the wreckage.
Latest reports confirm that two individuals lost their lives, while over 44 others were taken to hospitals with severe injuries.
“Out of the 47 casualties, 17 were transported to Molo Sub-County Hospital, while 30 were stabilized at the scene. A multi-agency team from the Kenya Red Cross in Molo responded promptly,” stated a report from the Kenya Red Cross.
