Tanzania President Suluhu Trolls “Burning” Neighbour Over Investor Exodus
President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania has once again criticized the economy of an unnamed neighboring country, claiming that instability is causing investors to flee to Tanzania.
In a video that went viral and elicited varied reactions from Kenyans, the President asserted that the country was “burning,” causing many investors to flee.
She stated that her nation had received an unprecedented number of investors, whose businesses would transform the economy.
According to President Suluhu, investors will not remain in an unstable, business-threatening environment.
“Kati ya mwezi wa May na Juni, tumepokea wawekezaji wengi mno. Lakini ukitizama sababu ni nini. Sababu ni kwamba kwa jirani kunawaka moto (Between May and June, we received many investors like never before. Evidently, the reason is that the neighbor’s house is on fire),” stated President Suluhu.
She made these remarks at a women’s conference in Zanzibar on Sunday, July 16 to commemorate the Islamic New Year.

Draw in investors.
Bringing in Investors
The Tanzanian president emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability, stating that this is the only way to attract investors and spur economic growth.
“I implore you to preserve the harmony and peace we currently enjoy.”
In addition, she stated that leaders must address discontent whenever it arises. President Suluhu cautioned that if leaders end up yelling and battling with one another, investors who wish to invest in the nation may reconsider and choose more stable nations.
She lauded Mr. Gilead Ted, the executive director of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), who stated in a recent interview that Tanzania had attracted a large number of investors this year.
Not for the first time, President Suluhu had mocked the neighboring nation with similar remarks.
President Suluhu stated earlier this year that Tanzania was performing better economically than other East African Community (EAC) nations.
“Many nations are currently complaining about a lack of foreign exchange, but we have sufficient reserves to last four years. “Our neighbors do not have enough food to last a week,” she stated.
