Sports CS Murkomen Heckled at Korom Festival, Joining Growing Trend of Public Protests Against Kenya Kwanza Leaders

Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen was heckled on the evening of December 7 while attending the Korom Festival in Eldoret.

The incident occurred during the festival, where attendees gathered to celebrate art, music, and culture, with renowned South African musician Pamela Nkutha as the headliner.

The event had been progressing smoothly until Murkomen was called to the stage to address the crowd, who immediately began booing him.

The agitated crowd continued to heckle, overpowering Murkomen’s speech, and forcing him to cut it short.

Unable to continue due to the rising boos, Murkomen left the stage to avoid further embarrassment as the crowdโ€™s chants intensified.

A video captured by Gossipa2z.com showed frustrated festival-goers heckling, raising their hands in protest against the Sports CS, a staunch ally of President William Ruto.

This incident follows a pattern of public heckling, with citizens increasingly using booing as a means of voicing their discontent with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Earlier, on November 23, President Rutoโ€™s Senior Economic Advisor, Moses Kuria, faced a similar situation when he was heckled and expelled from a funeral in Murang’a after the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

At the funeral of Mark Gicheru, a Member of the County Assembly, the crowd reacted angrily to Kuria’s presence.

Similarly, on October 11, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and several UDA officials encountered a hostile reception in Bahati during a funeral, where locals rejected efforts to promote President Rutoโ€™s agenda.

Governor Kihika faced opposition as she read a condolence message from President Ruto, with the mention of his name immediately triggering jeers and discontent.

Similarly, during the 61st Mashujaa Day celebrations in Juja, citizens turned unruly and heckled when a Deputy County Commissioner began reading President Ruto’s speech.

The event was disrupted when the DCC started delivering the speech, with the crowd responding with loud jeers and protests.

This pattern of widespread heckling is seen as a reflection of public frustration, fueled by the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and dissatisfaction with the country’s development path.
