Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua spent his Saturday at the Ngemi Cia Ruraya Festival in Seattle, Washington, as part of his ongoing tour across the United States.
Photos from the event showed Gachagua enjoying the celebration, which brought together members of the Gikuyu community to honor their culture and heritage. He was joined by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, and PLP party leader Martha Karua, as they danced and celebrated with attendees.

โMusic is a powerful way to share messages. It was a night to remember at the first Ngemi Cia Ruraya Festival held at Saghalie Park in Seattle,โ Gachagua said.
โTogether with Pastor Dorcas and my sister Martha Karua, we danced to vibrant music, proud of our traditions and unity,โ he added.

The festival attracted hundreds of Kenyans living in the U.S., including artists, leaders, and local musicians. Among the entertainers were Kameme FM host Muthoni Wa Kirumba and popular Mugithi singer Samidoh.

Gachagua landed in the U.S. on the night of Wednesday, July 9, marking his first international trip since being removed from office in October 2024.
Before leaving, Gachagua claimed some of his allies had been threatened in an attempt to stop his travel plans.

โPeople close to President William Ruto called my team and threatened to block me from flying out for diaspora events,โ he told the press.
โIโm not afraid. If they want to arrest me at the airport, they can. You canโt intimidate us. Weโre not buying fear.โ
Gachaguaโs tour will continue with planned visits to Texas, California, Washington, Massachusetts, and Maryland, where heโs expected to engage with Kenyans living abroad.
