Services Paralyzed As JKIA Roof Leaks, Again – VIDEO
Due to heavy rainfall in the country, services at Terminal 1C of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi have come to a standstill.
Operations were suspended on Friday, April 26, due to leaking roofs causing flooding in the luggage areas, leaving passengers stuck.
Terminal 1C, handling international flights, was most affected by the incident.
In a video posted by media personality Larry Madowo, airport staff are seen trying to control the water by placing containers in various spots around the terminal.
The staff members who usually serve passengers have vacated their posts, leaving seats scattered around the area.
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has faced criticism recently, with Kenyans blaming Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen for the issues plaguing the airport, which have now become a source of embarrassment for the nation.
CNN correspondent Larry Madowo and CS Murkomen recently had an online disagreement concerning the condition of the airport.

Madowo highlighted the flooding on walkways within JKIA, raising concerns about the lack of government action to construct canopies to protect people moving through different areas of the airport.
In response, Murkomen criticized the journalist for revealing the negative conditions and emphasized the importance of focusing on sharing positive news.
” I saw Larry taking videos at the airport. I was laughing because Larry was with us in the country for the last 50 years when that airport was like that. Suddenly because he lives in ‘majuu’ his eyes are open and realizes that there is no shade when you exit JKIA,” Murkomen stated.
On Wednesday, March 22, President William Ruto announced a new terminal will be built at the international airport as part of the government’s Medium Term Plan. The terminal will be designed to accommodate 20 million passengers per year.
“The terminal will house both local and international passengers but subject to the completion of a feasibility study that is currently ongoing,” he stated then.
