Ruto’s Unprecedented Move: Pastors Lead Haiti Mission After Talks with Gang Leader ‘Barbecue’

President William Ruto, in response to the planned multinational mission to Haiti, has reached out to evangelical pastors, seeking a sustainable resolution to the conflict in the Caribbean nation.

Before involving the pastors, Ruto extensively consulted political advisors, security officials, and foreign leaders regarding the prominent anti-gang mission.

Subsequently, he convened a meeting with the selected preachers, who are poised to serve as intermediaries between him and the Haitian communities.

These pastors, now part of the mission, have engaged in discussions with Haitians residing in the United States, fellow clergy members, and even officials from the US government.

The preachers proceeded to arrange a Zoom conference with Jimmy Chรฉrizier, notoriously known as Barbecue, the feared leader of Haiti’s most notorious gang.

During the discussion with Barbecue, one of the preachers acknowledged his reputation for malevolence but suggested the potential for a transformative change that could contribute to quelling the ongoing violence.

One of the pastors expressed faith in their role as instruments for divine intervention, foreseeing their mission as a means through which God could bring about assistance.

Sources familiar with the situation emphasized that maintaining positive relationships with Haitian communities would enable the Kenyan-led multinational force to learn from past mistakes made by other forces during prior missions.

According to one pastor, the degree of connection with the local population influences the approach taken in leading interventions.

The pastors argue that the challenges facing Haiti are not merely physical, but also have spiritual dimensions, necessitating the involvement of spiritual leaders.

In March of this year, Kenyan pastors initiated a 40-day prayer initiative for Haiti, seeking divine intervention to address the turmoil afflicting its people.

A preacher articulated a prayer, petitioning the divine to dismantle every Voodoo curse of death.
