Ruto Orders CSs Linturi, Nakhumicha, and Kindiki to Tackle Flood Emergency
On Friday, May 3, President William Ruto instructed Cabinet Secretaries Mithika Linturi, Susan Nakhumicha, and Kithure Kindiki to manage the current flood crisis.
During a State of the Nation address at State House in Nairobi, President Ruto asked CS Linturi to take charge of distributing food supplies to flood-affected regions across the country.
He specified that the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) would handle the distribution of food supplies.
“The Ministry of Agriculture is to utilize NCPB resources to provide food support for this initiative,” Ruto stated.
The Ministry of Health will collaborate with development partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Kenya Red Cross to aid flood-impacted communities.
CS Nakhumicha was given the responsibility of coordinating resources and logistical aid with development partners to provide necessary medications, food, and other medical supplies.

The Ministry of Interior was directed to assist in relocating and evacuating affected citizens.
The Interior Ministry was also ordered to evict Nairobi residents living or constructing homes on riparian land by 6 pm on May 3.
Additionally, CS Kindiki was tasked with finding potential sites for temporary shelters for displaced individuals and overseeing the overall support program.
“In Dandora, Nairobi County, I observed residents willingly dismantling their homes and finding places to store their belongings. This is a positive step,” Ruto remarked.
