Ruto Inaugurates New CDF, Delivers Key Message
On Friday, President William Ruto oversaw the inauguration of new Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officials at the State House in Nairobi.
Among those sworn in were the new Chief of Defence Forces, Charles Muriu Kahariri, and Major General John Mugaravai Omenda, who was appointed as Vice CDF.
Other appointments included Major General Thomas Njoroge Ng’ang’a as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration and Finance, and Peter Nyamu Githinji as Senior Directing Staff, Air at the National Defence College.
During his speech, Ruto emphasized the importance of cooperation between KDF officials and other security agencies. He particularly asked KDF to assist in addressing the ongoing flood crisis affecting various parts of the country.

“I’ve discussed with the new CDF about deploying KDF resources to support other agencies in managing the situation,” Ruto said.
He also urged the new officials to fulfill their responsibilities without prejudice and serve the people of Kenya. Ruto stressed the need for fair leadership and fostering growth within KDF to uphold the security and integrity of the nation.
The president encouraged the officials to prioritize protecting the sovereignty of the nation and its citizens. He also highlighted the significance of supporting other security agencies as per the constitutional requirements.
“You have my full support, prayers, and goodwill as you carry out your duties,” he added.
This swearing-in took place a day after KDF announced leadership changes, with Kahariri succeeding General Francis Ogolla as the new CDF.
