Quincy Timberlake Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter In Son’s Death Probe

Tuesday, the Australian prosecution service dropped the murder charge against Quincy Timberlake, a former Kenyan presidential candidate and the husband of former KTN news anchor Esther Arunga, after he pleaded guilty to the 2014 crime for which he was accused of murdering his 3-year-old son.

Timberlake was scheduled to stand trial at the Brisbane Supreme Court this week, but the judge-only trial has now been vacated.

Consequently, he is now scheduled to be sentenced on September 29 after the prosecutor, Caitlin Penfold, accepted the guilty plea to manslaughter in the Brisbane Supreme Court.

In the Supreme Court of Australia, the highest penalty for manslaughter is 25 years of imprisonment.

Due to his diagnosis of psychosis and schizophrenia during pre-trial discussions, it is uncertain whether Timberlake will receive the complete 25-year sentence.ย

In addition, he has already served nearly a decade in prison after being arrested three months after the tragic demise of his son.

    Pre-trial Dates

Timberlake and his wife, Esther Arunga, initially claimed that their son had tumbled down the stairs following his death.

However, when conflicting information from the emergency services became available, Arunga changed her story and confessed that their son had been struck in the stomach and thrown against the wall by his father.

Arunga was subsequently convicted of being an accessory to manslaughter, while her spouse was charged with murder. She was sentenced to 10 months in prison but was promptly released on parole.

Investigations revealed no evidence that Arunga had ever harmed her son.

During this time, Timberlake revealed his motivation for harming his son, stating that he believed the boy was possessed by aliens living in his intestines.

Timberlake relocated his family to Australia in 2010 after an unsuccessful bid for the presidency.ย
