Putin Threatened Boris Johnson with Missile Strike
VLADIMIR Putin threatened Boris Johnson with a missile attack, the former Prime Minister revealed today.
Mad Vlad’s menacing phone call came just one day after Boris visited Kyiv in February, amid fears of a Russian invasion.
Mr. Johnson makes the startling claim in a BBC series that begins tonight.
Mr. Johnson attempted to use his visit to warn the Kremlin that an attack would be disastrous.
Putin was paranoid about Nato encroaching on his borders.
Moscow was warned that if Putin invaded, there would be harsh sanctions and “more Nato, not less” in the region, prompting Mad Vlad’s threat.
“The very idea that the Russian President could have personally threatened the life of a British Prime Minister is extraordinary,” ex-Armed Forces minister Mark Francois said last night.

Mr. Johnson describes the threatening phone call in the three-part series Putin vs. the West, which premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on BBC2 and BBC iPlayer.
“I got Putin on the blower again,” he recalls. ‘Boris, you say Ukraine will not join Nato anytime soon,’ he said. What does ‘Anytime soon’ mean?
“And I said, ‘Well, it’s not going to join Nato for the foreseeable future,'” he said. You are well aware of this.
“At one point, he threatened me, saying, ‘Boris, I don’t want to hurt you, but with a missile, it would only take a minute,’ or something like that.
“I think from the very relaxed tone that he was taking, the sort of air of detachment that he seemed to have, he was just playing along with my attempts to get him to negotiate.
“And this is a very long and extraordinary call. He was acting strangely familiar.
“‘Look, if you do this, it will be a total disaster,’ I told him. It will imply a massive slew of Western sanctions. It will imply that we will continue to strengthen our support for Ukraine.”
Former Joint Forces Command commander General Sir Richard Barrons said Putin’s threats were hollow because he didn’t have enough missiles to spare.

“More than likely, Mr. Putin was indulging in a degree of malevolent levity,” he said.
“He’ll need all the missiles he can get to keep Ukraine from kicking Russia out.”
Putin’s actions backfired.
“As Boris quickly rallied the Europeans against the Russian invasion and has been one of Zelensky’s staunchest supporters ever since,” Mr. Francois said of Putin’s aggression.
“Putin has always tried to intimidate foreign leaders or put them on the spot by making personal remarks and saying things they wouldn’t expect in normal international diplomacy, whether face to face or by phone,” said ex-Army officer Col Richard Kemp.
“It’s his way of putting them to the test, throwing them off guard, and gaining the upper hand.”
“This demonstrates the true nature of Putin’s barbaric regime,” former defense minister John Spellar said. It demonstrates the importance of remaining vigilant against the Russian state.”

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace tells the documentary how, following the threat to Boris, he was dispatched to Moscow in a last-ditch effort to avoid war.
The translator was barred from assisting the UK delegation before the meeting due to a positive Covid test — despite receiving a negative reading on the plane.
Mr. Wallace describes how the Russians insisted that the Ukrainians “will not fight,” but rather “will welcome them” into the country.
“I remember telling Minister of Defence Sergei Shoigu, ‘They will fight,’ and he said, ‘My mother is Ukrainian, they won’t!” he says.
“He also stated that he had no plans to invade. That is pronounced ‘Vran’e’ in Russian.
“Vran’e, I believe, is a form of bullying or strength: I’m going to lie to you. You already know I’m lying. I know you know I’m lying, and I’ll keep lying to you.

“He knew I was aware, and I was aware that he was aware. But I believe it was to convey the message: I am powerful. I think it was the fairly chilling but direct lie about what they weren’t going to do that confirmed they were going to do it.”
Putin authorized the invasion three weeks later, on February 24.
The United Kingdom committed £2.3 billion to Ukraine last year and plans to match that amount in the coming year.
Anti-tank missiles, air defense systems, and three M270 long-range multiple-launch rocket systems have also been provided by ministers.
Mr. Johnson was fired from Number 10 in September.
Current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has also permitted to send a squadron of Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine to help thwart Russia’s anticipated spring offensive.
The United States and Germany recently pledged M1 Abrams and Leopard 2 tanks in a significant increase in Western support for Vlad’s forces.
