PS Raymond Omollo Claims Raila Odinga Followed William Ruto to Mombasa at Night: “That’s the Truth”
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has claimed Opposition leader Raila Odinga followed President William Ruto to Mombasa at night for a secret meeting.
While calling out the Orange Democratic Movement for expelling Luo MPs who have been associating themselves with the head of state, the PS said the ODM leader also met the president with no consequences.
Speaking in a video shared on Twitter, Omollo wondered how MPs and other leaders from other communities are hardly punished or discouraged from meeting with Ruto.
“The truth of the matter is we can sometimes elevate our leaders to the point that they begin to look down upon us. We have been enslaved by some people who think we don’t deserve to be anything,” a hard-hitting Omollo said.
The PS said the MPs met the president during his forays to the region, which he said were intended to bring development to the region.
Citing Raila’s meeting with Ruto last month in Mombasa, Omollo argued Ruto means well for the Luo community and should be allowed to meet with its leaders for the betterment of the electorate.

“Raila even followed him to Mombasa in the middle of the night. That is the truth, and the time has come for us to tell our people the bitter truth so that our region can develop. Aren’t we seeking power to bring development to our people?” he posed.
Ruto confirms meeting Raila in Mombasa
On July 30, 2023, Ruto confirmed holding a private meeting with the ODM leader to resolve their long-standing political stalemate.
The president also revealed details of the secret talks with the Opposition bigwig, in which they both agreed to bring to an end the deadly protests that left a trail of destruction in its wake.
“That is why I met the leader of the Opposition and other leaders from the faction. I told them we are a democratic country guided by the law,” Ruto said.
Why did ODM expel its 8 MPs
As reported, Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o is among the lawmakers the ODM party has expelled for dissenting to align with the UDA party.
The resolution to send them out was adopted after a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) stewarded by the political outfit’s leader Raila Odinga and chaired by nominated MP John Mbadi.
Others to be shown the door were Gem MP Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo, Suba South’s Caroli Omondi, Gideon Ochanda of Bondo, and Kisumu senator Tom Ojienda.
