Raila meets Azimio governors from the Lake Region Economic Block

Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Monday met with governors and leaders from the Lake Region Economic Block(LREB) to discuss matters of development and economic growth within the region

Raila together with the leaders held a close-door meeting for over three hours within the lakeside city.

The governors present included Anyang’ Nyongโ€™o (Kisumu), Gladys Wanga ( Homa Bay), Ochilo Ayacko ( Migori), James Orengo ( Siaya), Fernandes Baraza (Kakamega), Wilberforce Otichilo (Vihiga), Paul Otuoma (Busia) and Simba Arati (Kisii).

However, Raila did not speak to the media.

According to Nyongโ€™o, they talked about issues concerning the region in terms of development, politics, and national affairs.

He said they talked a lot about issues like the revitalization of transportation in the lake, and investments needed within the region like agriculture, research, and access to capital.

“We had fruitful discussions with our party leader, Raila Odinga. The discussions centered around the critical areas of revitalizing lake transport and bolstering food security within our region by sustaining a reliable and robust agricultural sector,” Wanga said.

She said together, they are confident that they can usher in a new era of prosperity and progress in the county of endless potential.

The governors from Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Siaya counties later held a roundtable discussion with officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This was to chart the way forward towards advancing HIV programming, transition, and sustainability of all interventions geared towards eliminating the epidemic.
