Those chosen for the positions include Moses Ado Otieno, Alice Chepngetich Bett Soi, Benjamin Mwikya Musyoki, John Lolwatan Tamar, Francis Weche Andayi, Andrew Bahati Mwamuye, and Julius Kipkosgei Ngโ€™arngโ€™ar.

Also appointed were Wendy Kagendo Micheni, Emily Onyando Ominde, Helene Rafaela Namisi, Alexander Muasya Muteti, Julius Mukut Nangea, Benjamin Kimani Njoroge, Caroline Jepyegen Kendagor, Stephen Nzisi Mbungi, Linus Poghon Kassan, and Noel Onditi Adagi Inziani.

In addition, Tabitha Ouya Wanyama, Rhoda Cherotich Rutto, and Joe Omido Mkutu were appointed.

The notice stated, “Under the authority granted by Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, hereby appoint the following individuals as Judges of the High Court of Kenya.”

Ruto made the appointments based on recommendations from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), led by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

In April, 95 candidates were shortlisted for interviews.

“The Commission carried out the interviews from April 3, 2024, to May 3, 2024. They interviewed 95 candidates, with 4 withdrawing their applications and 1 being selected as Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.

Following extensive discussions and consideration of constitutional requirements such as merit, gender, regional or ethnic balance, and affirmative action, the Commission has proposed certain individuals for appointment as High Court Judges in Kenya. Their names have been sent to the President for appointment in accordance with Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution,” stated the Chief Justice.

Following the appointment, the 20ย will be taking an oath of office in the coming days.
