Ruto made the appointments based on recommendations from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), led by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
In April, 95 candidates were shortlisted for interviews.
“The Commission carried out the interviews from April 3, 2024, to May 3, 2024. They interviewed 95 candidates, with 4 withdrawing their applications and 1 being selected as Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.
Following extensive discussions and consideration of constitutional requirements such as merit, gender, regional or ethnic balance, and affirmative action, the Commission has proposed certain individuals for appointment as High Court Judges in Kenya. Their names have been sent to the President for appointment in accordance with Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution,” stated the Chief Justice.
Following the appointment, the 20Â will be taking an oath of office in the coming days.
