Pastor Ezekiel Odero to Spend Weekend Behind Bars in Shakahola Cult Probe
Controversial As a result of an application made by the police, Pastor Ezekiel Odero will continue to be held in custody until the Tuesday of the following week, at which point the court will decide whether or not to remand him for an additional 30 days.
The decision was handed down by a court in Shanzu on Friday. Before that, the police had petitioned the court for permission to detain. The New Life Prayer Centre and the Church televangelist while they complete their investigation.
Court documents that were viewed by Citizen Digital revealed that the police have linked the controversial preacher to the bodies that were exhumed at the Shakahola land in Malindi. Which is located in Kilifi County. The documents also revealed that the police believe that several followers of the preacher’s ministry have met their end while searching for divine intervention.

They argued that the witnesses in the case could be influenced. If Pastor Ezekiel were released before the investigations were finished.
According to the documents filed with the court. The police have “collected several burial permits that were issued to several individuals whose names and telephone numbers have been disclosed in these records.”
“However, the investigators hold reasonable apprehension that the respondents may interfere with the individuals who are regarded as potential witnesses. Before getting to the bottom of the questions regarding whether or not the dead bodies were indeed released to kin for interment. Or buried at Shakahola under suspicious circumstances.”
The investigation into Pastor Ezekiel focuses on several possible wrongdoings, including fraud. Money laundering, murder, assisting in suicide, radicalization, crimes against humanity, and child cruelty.
After the controversial preacher was arrested on Thursday. The church in Mavueni where he was holding services was cleared out of more than one hundred people.
