NTSA Announces Shut Down of TIMS Portal in eCitizen Migration Plan
The NTSA plans to temporarily close the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) for three days to ensure a seamless transition on the eCitizen platform.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Authority announced the temporary closure of the portal from midnight on Friday, December 29, 2023, until midnight on Monday, January 1, 2024. This measure aims to restrict transactions across all NTSA services during that period.

Throughout this time frame, the consolidation of all NTSA online services will take place within the eCitizen platform, getting ready for implementation by January 2, 2024.
The change, as per NTSA, aligns with President William Ruto’s instruction for all government services to be available on a consistent platform.
“From January 2, 2024, only eCitizen login credentials shall be used to access NTSA services,” the notice read in part.
Pending Transactions
By the directive, NTSA directed drivers to finalize any outstanding tasks on the TIMS portal before Friday, December 15, 2023, in preparation for the consolidation of all services on the eCitizen platform.
“All clients with pending transactions on the TIMS platform are therefore required to complete them by Friday, December 15, 2023, to avoid any inconveniences,” NTSA noted.
Validate Their Accounts
NTSA has directed all individuals and organizations, such as motor vehicle proprietors, financial institutions, insurance firms, motorcycle vendors, corporations, embassies, missions, departments, and agencies, to verify their eCitizen Accounts to guarantee access to the platform.
“In undertaking the validation process, the Authority requires persons assigned to transact on behalf of organizations to login to their eCitizen account and to add the specific organizations using the KRA PIN. This is a critical exercise to ensure access to all NTSA services within the platform,” NTSA stated.
To ensure a seamless changeover, the Authority plans to hold online training sessions from December 18 to December 22. These sessions aim to acquaint users with the process of accessing services available on the eCitizen platform.
“NTSA is committed to delivering quality services to the public during this transition period.”
