Notorious Narcotics Trafficker Arrested in Mombasa

DCI officials apprehended an alleged drug dealer in Mombasa on Wednesday, seizing heroin and cannabis found in his possession.

According to an announcement from the agency, the detectives were alerted by members of the public, leading them to launch an operation at the home of the suspect.

During the raid, the detectives seized multiple packets suspected to contain heroin, along with several bundles of cannabis sativa.

The detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) also confiscated a total of Ksh52,750 in cash, with a portion of it being in US dollars.

Additionally, the DCI proceeded to confiscate the suspect’s vehicle, claiming it was bought with money obtained from criminal activities.

“Also seized from the suspect is his vehicle which is believed to be a proceed of crime, cash Sh26,250 and USD 200 (Ksh26,500)”, stated the DCI.

Additional items were confiscated from the suspect, including packaging envelopes suspected to be utilized within the drug syndicate.

The detectives seized three cell phones suspected to hold information crucial for identifying the suspect’s associates and assisting in the ongoing investigations.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court on April 18.

This arrest follows a commitment by law enforcement officials to carry out an operation along the Kenyan Coast aimed at rooting out drug dealers in the area.

On March 17, the lifeless body of Yusuf Ahmed Swaleh, also known as Candy Rain, a suspected drug kingpin purportedly inheriting a lucrative narcotics network from the Akasha siblings, was discovered under perplexing circumstances.

The corpse was discovered abandoned in dense vegetation in Kilifi County following claims that individuals masquerading as law enforcement officers had taken him away for interrogation.
