NIS Has Planted a Mole in My Team – Morara Kebaso Claims
Lawyer-turned-activist Morara Kebaso has stirred controversy by alleging that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) has infiltrated his team with a mole. This claim comes after he faced a series of unusual incidents over the past several months.
“In my team, the NIS placed a mole long ago. This is the truth. I have a mole in my team,” Kebaso said in a video shared on his X account.
Kebaso stated that his conclusion was drawn from a string of suspicious occurrences, including a car accident in Embu a few weeks ago.
Reflecting on the accident, Kebaso noted that despite initially dismissing Kenyans’ claims of a planned attack, he reconsidered after investigating the other vehicle, which only led to more questions.
“Kenyans were right to be suspicious. I was wrong not to be. The car involved was owned by a company, not an individual, and a CR12 search on the company turned up nothing significant. We’ve been unable to trace the driver to date,” Kebaso said.
He also mentioned his dramatic arrest at his headquarters on September 30, which further fueled his suspicions. He said a call was made from his headquarters to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), providing exact information about his presence.
“Someone was called here, asked if I was in, and then called the DCI. When DCI arrived, they didn’t search the compound or other offices. They came straight to mine as if they already knew the layout,” Kebaso explained.

Kebaso also noted that the suspected mole never seemed to be present during unfortunate events, including his attack at the Bomas of Kenya during a public participation exercise regarding DP Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment motion.

“This person is a close member of my team and should have been at Bomas. Why would he be absent, especially when he lives nearby? Why did he come to my office instead of where I was?” Kebaso questioned.
After the attack, Kebaso also received intelligence that he was set to be arrested, with the chaotic incident pinned on him, despite being accompanied only by one other member of his team.
Kebaso later switched hospitals after discovering his treatment facility had been compromised. He stopped by his office but left his phone behind to avoid being tracked, and he noted that no one came to arrest him—something he attributes to the mole informing others he wasn’t there.
He further claimed there had been an attempt to poison his food, which he managed to avoid, prompting him to conduct a comprehensive background check on the suspected mole. The results were unsettling, as the suspect’s entire history seemed wiped clean.
Due to these ongoing incidents, Kebaso announced his intent to take Kenyans’ concerns about his safety seriously and vowed to thoroughly vet each member of his team.
However, Kebaso acknowledged that private security is costly, and he may have to seek financial support from Kenyans to secure his safety, fearing for his life.
He also urged Kenyans to continue reporting any suspicions they have about his team or other issues, promising to take such concerns seriously.
