Former Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has revealed the significant efforts he undertook in leading the nation through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the need for him to make urgent late-night communications.
During an interview on Monday, Mutahi Kagwe described how the situation was exhausting, requiring the leadership at the time to endure sleepless nights.
Mutahi Kagwe stated that he would send messages to the President and other leaders expecting replies in the morning. However, he found that they responded almost instantly, indicating that they were also awake at the time.
Kagwe described how, throughout the pandemic, he endured countless sleepless nights worrying about the well-being of Kenyans in contrast to the situations unfolding in other nations.

Additionally, Kagwe explained that at that time, communicating with other leaders regarding COVID-19 issues was challenging due to the necessity of making tough decisions.
