MP Wamboka Launches New Efforts to Oust CS Linturi After Parliamentary Setback
Bumula Member of Parliament Wambani Wamboka announced his intention to initiate new efforts to remove Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi from office.
In a statement dated Monday, May 13, Wamboka asserted that there was evidence implicating the CS in the fake fertilizer scandal, despite him being spared from impeachment by the committee and national assembly.
Wamboka noted that the votes supporting the CS were not substantial, which justifies the need to formulate new plans for his removal from office.
“The unanimous decision of 149 members representing over 30 million Kenyans cannot be overturned by the influenced seven members of the select committee. Their decision is a betrayal of the hardworking Kenyans in our villages,” he declared.
“We will persist until justice is served to Kenyan farmers and Linturi is removed. There are many ways to eliminate a problem; some use poison, others may burn the house down, but some will just sit on it,” he added.
However, according to the 2010 constitution, a CS can be removed from office through three methods: resignation, impeachment by the National Assembly, or dismissal by the President.

Additionally, he claimed that the select committee was compromised during the investigation process.
Wamboka alleged that some MPs who initially voted to impeach Linturi were offered Ksh5 million to change their votes.
Yet, he did not provide concrete evidence of the bribery attempts.
“I commend the four patriotic members: Hon Mbui, Hon Omanyo, Hon Yusuf Farah, and Hon TJ Kajwang. You are our heroes. Special thanks to my legal team led by SC Dr. Khaminwa and Asha for their dedicated representation on behalf of Kenyans.
“There is no doubt that all evidence and witnesses proved beyond reasonable doubt that Linturi, as the head of the department, was responsible for the mess, scam, and failures,” he stated.
Linturi is set to continue his duties as CS following the majority vote by MPs during the special session on Monday.
The MPs’ vote was based on the report of the select committee, which indicated that Wamboka and his legal team did not substantiate their claims against the CS during the hearings.
