Moses Kuria Blames Rigathi Gachagua for Cabinet Shake-up
Thursday, Moses Kuria suggested that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua may have had a hand in his dismissal from the Trade Ministry.
The former Trade Cabinet Secretary posted an uncaptioned photo of the DP with whom they have been at odds for weeks in a statement.
A few minutes earlier, Kuria had posted a gospel hymn stating that God would see him through his trials.
Analysts and political experts interpreted Kuria’s transfer from the Trade portfolio to the Public Service role as a demotion.
Gachagua had criticized Kuria last month for what he deemed an arrogant approach to the rising cost of fuel.
“You do not address your employer (Kenyans) with arrogance. Do so with humility and decorum,” Gachagua warned Kenyans.
This occurred after Kuria informed Kenyans that the price of petroleum would increase every month and that dissatisfied individuals could drill their own oil.
After being reprimanded by the DP, Kuria stated that some individuals suffered from an inferiority complex.
Later, he deleted the tweet and substituted it with a sarcastic apology to Gachagua and other leaders who criticized his arrogance.

“I have since been advised by people like Boni Khalwale and his master that the statement was incorrect, insensitive, and arrogant. I am made to understand that the price will come down,” he stated on September 20.
The former member of parliament for Gatundu South was also experiencing difficulties in his Trade portfolio due to strained relations with the United States.
On July 19, United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai refused to meet with Kuria while in Kenya for high-level trade negotiations.
Similarly, President William Ruto omitted Kuria from the delegation he sent to the United States to continue trade negotiations.
The removal of Kuria from the Trade docket occurred a day after the United States resumed free trade negotiations with Kenya.
